Please join me in congratulating Elissa Baker, director of Distance and Online Learning, who has earned the Leadership Development Certificate from the Center for Professional Excellence.
Elissa has been with the college for 15 years as the online support specialist, instructional designer, and now director of Distance and Online Learning. During her time at Hudson Valley Community College, Elissa has always been keenly interested in her professional and personal development. She is active on campus with the Middle States Self-Study, Instructional Resource Committee, Retention Committee, and CRM Communications Committee.
She also helped move nearly 300 faculty members from in-person teaching to online and remote modes of teaching, leading boot camps and other training sessions, when the COVID-19 pandemic shut down began in March 2020. She expanded these training sessions through the summer to prepare faculty for continued remote and online teaching for Fall 2020. Elissa has also presented at Faculty Workshop Day, SUNY’s Remote Teaching Institute 2020, SUNY Online, and the Distance Learning Leaders Panel – National Distance Learning Week 2020. Additionally, she teaches as an adjunct in both the Education and Computer Information Systems departments.
Congratulations, Elissa!
